Ambroxol is primarily prescribed to treat respiratory diseases and related symptoms. It clears the respiratory tract, breaks up phlegm, and aids in the release of surfactant, preventing mucus from sticking to the bronchial wall. It is commonly found in cough syrups and other medications to facilitate easy breathing in case of nasal cavity congestion. The drug comes in tablet form (30 mg hydrochloride) and syrup form (15 mg ambroxol hydrochloride per 15 ml). Its action begins quickly, usually within 30 minutes after intake. Ambroxol is clinically proven to make sputum thinner and less viscous, effectively treating cough. It is also used to treat inflammatory pulmonary conditions, bronchitis, bronchospasm asthma, and pneumoconiosis. However, individual responses to the medication may vary, so it is advisable to consult a Pulmonologist before using this medicine.

RARE SIDE EFFECTS:
Bromhexine has an active metabolite called ambroxol, which is more potent in its bronchosecretolytic action compared to bromhexine. Ambroxol improves the consistency of sputum by hydrating it, making it easier to expectorate and reducing shortness of breath. It also enhances the production of surfactant phospholipids in alveolar cells, leading to decreased alveolar surface tension. Additionally, ambroxol reduces bronchial hyperactivity and exhibits anti-inflammatory properties by inhibiting the generation of cellular cytokines and arachidonic acid metabolites. It has been effective in improving airway patency in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
Syrup Dosage:
Take Ambroxol Syrup as advised by your physician. Shake well before use. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending on your age, body weight, and disease condition.
If you are allergic to ambroxol or any other ingredients of syrup Ambroxol Syrup.
